Cookie Policy

This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on Live, Onward, and how you control them. It reflects how the website is currently configured.

Essential cookies and local storage

A small amount of information is stored in your browser so the website works properly and so we can remember your cookie choice. Your choice (“accepted” or “rejected”) is saved locally in your browser. It contains no name, email address or health information, and it is not shared with anyone.

Optional analytics (Google Analytics 4)

Google Analytics 4 is optional and switched off by default. Analytics is only used if you choose “Accept analytics”. Until you do:

  • the Google Analytics script is not loaded;
  • no Google Analytics cookies are set;
  • no analytics information is sent to Google.

If you reject analytics, nothing about how the website works changes. You can change your mind at any time using the control, which is also available in the footer of every page.

How analytics is configured

  • Google advertising storage, ad personalisation and Google Signals are disabled.
  • Internal site-search terms are not sent to Google Analytics.
  • Query strings and URL fragments are removed before a page location is recorded.
  • Names, email addresses, messages and any other free text you type into our contact form are never sent to Google Analytics.
  • After consent, a generic contact_form_submit event may be recorded to show that a form was sent. No personal or health information is attached to it.

What is measured after consent

If you accept analytics, standard anonymous usage measurement may include page views, scrolling, clicks on outbound links, downloads and supported video interactions. This helps us understand which articles people find useful.

Cookie names, durations and data retention

Where Google Analytics cookies are set after consent, their names, lifetimes and Google’s data-retention settings are determined by Google and by the account configuration rather than by this website. We have chosen not to publish specific durations or retention periods here, because we cannot state them with certainty from the website code alone. This section is under review and will be updated once those values have been confirmed in the Google Analytics account.

Managing cookies in your browser

As well as our cookie preferences control, most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking all cookies may affect how some websites function.
